DAY 1: Arrival!!!

A good friend of mine in Memphis who partakes in mission trips quite often recommended that I'd document exactly what I expect out of this trip then, compare it to the outcome of the week to see how much of a difference it was. I decided to take her up on it and give it a shot!

Throughout this trip in Honduras, I know that whatever I expect won't be matched exactly as to what reality will truly bring. For which I am ready for the unexpected, I just wanted to measure my expectations to God's incomprehensible plan and promises. I feel as though mission trips are either as hard or easy as you make them. They can be difficult in a sense that it may cause you to stretch yourself beyond your comfort level yet it may be easy by simply allowing God to work through you to be the hands and feet he has called you to be versus you attempting to do everything on your own and how you want to do it. What's so great and unique about this Honduras team is that someones weakness could be the strength of someone else. I'm so amped to see what is to come for the rest of the week and it's only the first day!

The past couple of days, I've been intently praying for God to begin to humbly mold our hearts into the servants heart that glows throughout every environment we enter. It says in Isaiah 42: "I will keep you and make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness."

I expect to have the strength, power, courage and ability to allow God to have complete access through me so that the light of him in me will shine to others in this current nation we're in as it says in Matthew 5:16. More specifically, I'm expecting the unexpected.

PS... This is Andre and Julio! They don't know it yet, but by the end of this trip, we're going to be life long pals!

PPS... And this is Luis! He's a resident of Honduras and will be helping out the team throughout the trip! Tonight I got a glimpse of his wisdom and I can't wait to see/hear more revealed as this trip unfolds!

Well that's all for now! Adios from the lobby of Hotel Mac Arthur!

  1. I love you all and I'm glad you've made it safely. Madison Missions ended just a few hours ago and I'm about to take a much needed nap... but I thought I'd check your blog first. I'm praying for all of you and I wish I could be there with you, but I'm looking forward to hearing about how God is using you to change lives and make a difference in Tegucigalpa.

Also, I expect all of you to take good care of my mom and brother, so please do :)
