Trash Dump Community - families living in places like this are often those receiving new homes through AFE (like the one we're building this week)

Charles... they love this guy

One of the many boys living in the Buen Samaritano Village where we are building the home (he also is a student at AFE)

View of Teguc we see every day to/from our hotel (on the edge of town) to AFE (just outside)

This is what we looked like from the perspective of Jesus (the statue at Picacho, overlooking Teguc)

Smiles are universal

Some paint, some play - we all have our roles

Now, if we can find a way to teach them how to properly use these tools...

  3. Hola Honduras team! I just got back from a trip to Chicago so I am catching up on your blog. Great pics and posts. I long to be with you all and proud of the work you are doing. Please say hi to the Vega family and anyone else I might know from Seguat. Can't wait to hear more stories.

  4. The house is looking awesome! Love the pictures and the captions! So fun to see what you are seeing and doing along with all of your smiling faces. I'm not sure you want to let Lief have any of the big tools for more than a few minutes! Hugs and Prayers! The Van Aartsen's

  5. Sounds like all is going really well. Pictures and comments on the blog are awesome. Keep it up Lief and Paul and all the other leaders. You are doing a great job. Please tell the students and leaders that they are a part of what God is doing with, in and through Blackhawk. Others were at AFE in the past, even some of them, and then recently in the Spring. Now they are there and present, paving the way for those that will come after. They are building more than a structure, they are continuing to build the path of relationship. Teams we send may bring some love and joy, but they would agree that the Hondurans impart so much more to our folks that could ever be counted our quantified. The HSM Honduras 2012 team will carry a lot back to Madison, but the bounty won't be packed in their luggage, it will be woven into their hearts.
